Vaccinations | U11 investigation

Vaccinations

The U11 is a good opportunity to have vaccinations or booster shots that have not yet been given. Typically, on the recommendation of the STIKO (permanent vaccination commission of the Federal Republic of Germany), a booster of the DTP vaccination against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough (pertussis) is given at the age of 9 – 14 years. Likewise, the first poliomyelitis booster vaccination can be given and, if desired, vaccinated against the human papilloma virus (HPV), the trigger of a large number of forms of cervical cancer.

Questionnaire and interview

Since 1971, the costs of preventive medical check-ups for infants and toddlers have been covered by health insurance companies as compulsory benefits. For the more recent preventive medical checkups, the procedure of the health insurance companies is not yet quite as uniform. However, most health insurance companies now cover the full costs of the U11.

Should further examinations or treatment steps be necessary within the framework of the U11, these are also covered by the health insurance company. If the health insurance company does not cover the costs, about 50€ will be charged for the examination. If the U11 is included as a compulsory service in the service catalog of the health insurance companies and is fully, partially or possibly not reimbursed at all, can be inquired at the respective health insurance company.
