The following symptoms and complaints may indicate vaginismus (vaginismus):
Pathognomonic (indicative of a disease).
- When attempting to insert the penis (or a tampon or, during gynecologic examination, the instrument) into the vagina, the vaginal wall cramps; this results in significant pain
