Varicose Veins (Varicosities): Diagnostic Tests

Obligatory medical device diagnostics.

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Light reflection rheography (method for estimating vascular patency) – for suspected chronic venous insufficiency.
  • Plethysmography (visualization of blood flow in an extremity by cuff compression) – if chronic venous insufficiency is suspected
  • Phlebography (imaging of veins by contrast medium in an X-ray examination) – to rule out thrombosis (refers to the complete or partial occlusion of a vessel or cardiac cavity by a thrombus (blood clot))
