Various creams after removal

After a mole removal, the treating dermatologist will usually give you individual advice on care. In most cases, a caring wound and healing ointment, such as Bepanthen®, is applied directly after the removal. Often, a plaster remains on the wound for several days, so that additional use of moisturizing cream is not necessary.

After wearing the patch, you should nevertheless make sure that you have sufficient sun protection with a high sun protection factor. If larger scars remain after the liver spot removal, caring creams or oils can be used. They keep the scar supple and support the tissue in healing.

Costs of mole removal

If you have decided to have one or more moles removed, the question of possible costs will of course quickly arise. Unfortunately, it is not possible to give a generalized cost estimate. In principle, however, the following applies: As soon as your treating dermatologist determines a medical necessity for the removal of the liver spot, your health insurance company will cover the resulting costs.

Medical necessity, in most cases stands for the so-called “degeneration risk”. This means that behind the supposedly harmless liver spot, either a preliminary stage of skin cancer or even actual skin cancer could be hidden. Studies have also shown that the number of liver spots can be considered the strongest factor in the development of skin cancer.

In case of doubt, the suspicious mole is removed and then pathologically (microscopically) examined, so that clarity regarding the “question skin cancer” is quickly achieved. Cosmetic removals, on the other hand, have to be paid for by the patients themselves. Aesthetic aspects, in particular, play no role. Exceptions can sometimes be very large or disfiguring moles.

What do I need to know about sports?

Especially active people want to resume their sports activities as soon as possible after the removal of the liver spot. But when is sports allowed at all? Ultimately, the cosmetic end result depends decisively on the external conditions of the wound healing!

Unattractive, bulging or “overshooting” scar formation can be promoted by tearing open the wound edges, e.g. during sports activities. It is therefore recommended to refrain from sports in the first days or weeks. Of course, the location and size of the wound must also be taken into account.

For example, after small moles have been removed from the facial area, sport can often be started after a few days. If, however, scars are visible on areas that require more movement, such asB. Legs or arms, you should refrain from sports for a longer period of time. Just ask your dermatologist about this, he will be happy to give you an individual recommendation!
