Very rare side effects

Acute hypersensitivity reactions, such as anaphylactic shock, are very rarely observed. If such a reaction is noticed, treatment with ibuprofen must be stopped immediately and a physician consulted in order to take appropriate medical countermeasures.

Interactions with other drugs

The active ingredient ibuprofen can have a negative effect on platelet aggregation (blood platelet function), so that patients with blood clotting disorders must be carefully monitored when treated with ibuprofen. This is also the case with therapy with anticoagulant drugs such as aspirin (ASA), in which the anticoagulant effect of the drug is then reduced by ibuprofen and blood clots can form (thrombus). If blood sugar-lowering drugs are taken at the same time as ibuprofen, ibuprofen can influence their effect and blood sugar levels should be more strictly controlled. If ibuprofen is taken over a longer period of time, it is important to check certain values regularly: If ibuprofen is taken over a longer period of time, it can lead to drug-resistant headaches. The inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by ibuprofen can make it more difficult to become pregnant while taking ibuprofen.
