Vigantoletten® for babies

Vigantoletten® can also be given to babies. Here too, this must be discussed in advance with the responsible pediatrician. Vigantoletten® promote bone formation in babies and toddlers by encouraging mineralization, i.e. the incorporation of minerals such as calcium.

Since vitamin D plays a decisive role in the calcium balance, taking it can positively promote both bone and tooth development. Particularly in months with little sunlight it can be meaningful to give Vitamin D to babies and infants, since sunlight is needed for the production of the vitamin. Vigantoletten® with 500 I. E. can be given, or special preparations for children that contain additional fluoride that supports tooth development.

Vigantoletten® with fluorine

There are also preparations that contain additional fluorine. Fluorine is a trace element of the human body, so it is only needed in small amounts by the body. Nevertheless it is important!

It is especially essential for bones and teeth, but can also be detected in tiny amounts in the blood. In bones, it serves to stabilize the body by activating cells that build up bone substance. Vigantoletten®, which also contain fluorine, can therefore be taken by older women after menopause, for example, to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. However, several drugs that influence bone metabolism should not be taken at the same time – in this case it is best to consult a doctor. Fluorine is often also contained in toothpaste and protects against tooth decay.Taking them in the form of tablets can also protect the teeth.

Before taking it, it is essential to rule out the possibility of an allergy. The possible use of Vigantoletten® should always be discussed in advance with a doctor, for example your family doctor. If you forget to take it, it is not serious, but you should never take a double dose at the time of the next intake, as this could lead to side effects and an overdose.

During pregnancy or while breastfeeding, Vigantoletten® should only be taken after consulting a doctor. Vitamin D can also be taken in powder form, packed in so-called “sticks”. One stick usually contains 1000 I. U.

The same instructions on dosage, intake and possible side effects must be observed as for the tablets. Vitamin D can also be administered in the form of drops, which can be particularly helpful in the case of children, as it makes taking it much easier. However, you should pay close attention to how much vitamin D is contained in the drops.

In the past, the drops usually contained 400 I. U., but now there are often almost twice as many. This can lead to overdose and side effects. Especially with small children one would like to avoid this of course. Therefore, you should find out exactly what preparation you are giving your child and after switching to another one, check whether the concentration of vitamin D has changed. If necessary, a doctor should then be contacted again to adjust the daily dose.
