- Abdominal ultrasonography (ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs) – for basic diagnostics.
- Esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (OGD; endoscopy of esophagus, stomach, and duodenum) with biopsies (sampling) from all suspicious lesions; in Barrett’s esophagus, additional 4-quadrant biopsies [gold standard].
Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnosis.
- X-ray of the abdomen in the standing position (abdominal plain radiograph) – e.g., wg.
- Acute abdomen – symptom complex characterized by severe abdominal pain (abdominal pain (abdominal pain)) and possible life-threatening.
- V. a. (Suspected of) gastrointestinal perforation (gastrointestinal perforation).
- V. a. ileus (intestinal obstruction)
- Localization of foreign bodies
