What do you have to consider when you are in a crèche?
The cribs in Germany differ enormously from one another. The quality of care depends largely on the number of educators, their working conditions and training, the spatial conditions and much more. But even under optimal conditions, each daycare center follows a different educational concept.
The proximity to the place of residence or the workplace also plays a role. Parents should therefore find out about available places in their area and visit the daycare centers. If a special focus is close to their hearts, such as a different language, a creative educational concept or a facility in the middle of nature, the choice is more limited.
In this respect, there is a vast number of different offers, but often not nearby, with no free capacity or very expensive. If there are siblings, they are usually all placed together in the same institution, since they then have a reference person among themselves. This can also be a decision making aid if the child has friends in a day care center. Costs for the crèche
How the contribution for daycare centers is calculated varies greatly from region to region. Private daycare centers are considerably more expensive, while municipal facilities are financed by the state, although they are allowed to charge an additional contribution that is adapted to the parents’ income and other factors. Thus the monthly costs vary from about 15-600€, depending on whether and how the facility is subsidized or whether it is a private day care center.
Who bears the costs for the day care center?
Municipal childcare places are financed up to 100% by the respective provider. Depending on the region, these are public agencies such as authorities, associations and societies and free agencies such as sponsors, church associations, free societies and many more. In addition, each day care center can demand a variable additional contribution from the parents. The exact cost coverage is therefore somewhat different for each daycare center and the system is much more complicated than for non-contributory schools.
