What fitness bracelets are available?

On the whole, one could divide the range of fitness watches into three categories:

  • On the one hand “Activity Tracker”: They are, so to speak, the simplest form of fitness wristbands. These models are aimed at people who mainly focus on everyday activities. Calorie and step counting are more important than the current heart rate.

Therefore these devices usually do not have a display. The essential data can be looked up and analyzed in the app included.

  • Second, a “fitness tracker”: these are best suited for dedicated amateur athletes. As a rule, they have a display that offers the possibility to show the current pulse etc.

More detailed data is provided by the corresponding app. With GPS trackers, running routes can be traced and better comparisons can be made.

  • The third category consists of genuine “sports watches”: These are most suitable for competitive athletes and very committed hobby sportsmen. These watches can often be directly coupled with heart rate belts and other fitness equipment and can thus serve as a control center for the collection of fitness data.

What should I look for when buying a fitness bracelet?

This question always depends on the demands the wearer makes on his or her fitness bracelet. The first point that probably catches the eye is the wide price range within which the various products are sold. More expensive usually also means a better connection with other fitness equipment, such as pulse belts, certain treadmills, etc.

The more expensive products also come mostly from well-known manufacturers, so that one usually does not have to worry about support and problem questions.Secondly, it should be considered whether the functions offered by more expensive fitness wristbands are needed or used to their full extent. Other important points that should be considered are for example water resistance. If the fitness wristband is also to be used for swimming training, this point is crucial.

Also important are the standby time and the storage space of the fitness wristband. How often are you willing to take off the wristband to let it charge and how often are you willing to transfer your gained data to the computer or tablet? In short: You should be clear in advance how professionally you want to use the fitness wristband and whether the potential features are really needed or whether a model with less features will meet the requirements.

The costs incurred for the wristband are as varied as the fitness wristbands themselves. The first models can already be purchased in discount stores for around 20 euros. The products of well-known manufacturers, however, start at around 50 euros and can also be purchased for just under 300 euros.

The decisive factor for the price is usually the scope of accessories included in the fitness wristband. But a more expensive model is not always better. As a rule, a well-known manufacturer should also be backed by a decent support service that can help customers with any problems they may have, which can justify a certain factor of additional costs. Before purchasing, you should make it clear to yourself what you want to use the fitness bracelet for and which functions are superfluous and would only put an unnecessary strain on your wallet.
