What services are provided with care level 1?

According to the medical service of the health insurance, persons in need of care with care level 1 are only described as “slightly impaired in their independence”. The Care Strengthening Act 2 prohibits that people in need of care with care level 1 may receive outpatient cash benefits or a care benefit in kind from the care insurance. This means that people in need of care with care level 1 are not entitled to a care allowance for care at home.

They receive neither care benefits in kind nor outpatient cash benefits. The achievement, which one receives with care degree 1, is the requirement on an earmarked ambulatory discharge amount of 125€ monthly on the part of the care insurance (§45b SGB XI). What can one do with the money of the discharge amount?

This amount represents a care benefit in kind. This enables the person in need of care to use the benefits of the nursing care insurance fund for night and day care, short-term care and preventive care. In addition, low-threshold care services are also billable: coping with general or care-related requirements of everyday life Z.
