To be allowed to work as a childminder, some further training is necessary. More than 160 hours of instruction include a preparation course, a basic seminar and a more in-depth course on the tasks of a nanny.

The lessons include a presentation and a term paper as well as the writing of a concept. Further qualifications of a host mother include participation in hygiene measures and a thorough first-aid course for infants and toddlers. The training also includes an internship of 60 hours.To be allowed to work as a childminder, a clean police clearance certificate of the future childminder and, if a partner is available, of the partner is necessary.
