What should be considered when choosing a childminder?

When choosing a childminder, it is extremely important that the childminder is empathetic and sensitive to the needs of the child. Affectionate care is essential for the little children. In addition, there are a few important aspects when choosing the right childminder: Does the child get enough rest, e.g. for a nap?

Are there enough age-appropriate toys? Do the required care times match the times of the childminder? Does the childminder promote the development of my child?

Is it possible to play outside? What kind of activities does the nanny plan with the children in her care? What are the safety precautions regarding water, power sources etc.?

What does the group look like in terms of number of children, gender, etc.? ? Is the nanny certified by the youth welfare office?

If you have a good feeling about a childminder, you should get the child used to the childminder during a contact and familiarization phase in order to build a stable bond. Afterwards a care contract is concluded.

The lessons include a presentation and a term paper as well as the writing of a concept. Further qualifications of a host mother include participation in hygiene measures and a thorough first-aid course for infants and toddlers. The training also includes an internship of 60 hours. To be allowed to work as a childminder, a clean police clearance certificate of the future childminder and, if a partner is available, of the partner is necessary.
