When can I do sports again after a delayed cold?

Those affected should actually only start exercising again when the cold symptoms have completely subsided, as serious consequences that can lead to death are possible. Therefore it is better not to risk anything: In fact, it is best not to start exercising again until one or two days after the symptoms have completely disappeared.

Diagnosis of a delayed cold

In the beginning, the doctor’s questioning of the affected person is in the foreground. Here, for example, the nature of the symptoms, onset and duration, and treatment (e.g. sparing) are discussed. This is followed by a physical examination, which includes, for example, listening (auscultation) to the lungs and heart.

An examination of the lymph nodes, throat and paranasal sinuses is also included. If abnormalities occur, further examinations must be scheduled. These include above all a blood test, whereby special attention is paid to increased inflammation values. X-ray examinations of the thorax or a heart ultrasound may be necessary.
