When will I be healthy again?
The most common form of hyperthyroidism is Graves’ disease. This is a chronic autoimmune disease. Although the immune reaction can be suppressed by medication, a cure is not expected.
After removal, the inflammation is no longer detectable, but for this to occur, patients must substitute the hormones for a lifetime. In the case of an iodine-deficient goiter, which has become rare in Europe since the iodination of table salt, a cure can be achieved through a suitable diet. An exact duration is not to be given here.
