When will my child be allowed back in the daycare center once he or she is healthy again?
Depending on the disease, infection may occur before, during and/or after the onset of symptoms. The pediatrician should therefore make a decision depending on the clinical picture. With most diarrheal diseases, for example, it is important not to take the child back to the nursery until digestion and bowel movements are back to normal.
Children with colds and coughs are often no longer contagious, even if they still show mild symptoms. Children with a fever should be completely fever-free and fit again before they are allowed to return to the nursery. For rare diseases, however, these infectious intervals can be quite different. At what age is my child allowed to attend the crèche?
In general, crèches can look after children from about 6 months of age. In individual cases, however, the age varies enormously, as not every child reaches the same stage of development at the age of six months. How can I tell if my child is ready for the daycare center?
There is no optimal time to leave your child in a care facility. Many parents are afraid of harming their child if they take it to a daycare center too early. Of course, the bond between parents and child is very important and can be affected by long care periods.
But this relationship can be built up before and after work, regardless of the baby’s age. So as long as the child receives good individual care in the crèche, only stays there as long as necessary and the parents are engaged with the little one outside of working hours, babies can already be handed over for care at the age of a few months. The signs that come from the child and speak for care are more relevant at kindergarten age.
A certain curiosity and desire to play with others, for example, are signs that a child could have a lot of fun in kindergarten. At crèche age, this curiosity and interest in the environment is also conducive, but is not necessary due to the individual care, as the crèche is better able to respond to each individual child and babies even get their very own caregiver. Most daycare centers offer trial periods to see whether the child feels comfortable there. If in doubt, the care can therefore be tried out first.
