Where can I find a good template?

There are different templates for a headache diary. Often doctors who specialize in the treatment of headaches have their own headache diaries that they can give to their patients. Alternatively, numerous templates can be found on the Internet. A certainly good reference is the German Headache Society, whose headache diaries are the basis for many other templates. There are already specific headache diaries for migraine, cluster headache and tension headache.

Evaluation of the headache diary

Headaches can also occur in children in chronic form, i.e. over a long period of time. Therefore, it can also be useful to keep a headache diary. There are headache diaries especially made for children.

Here, certain questions are presented with more descriptive and easier answers. For example, the localization of the headache is illustrated with pictures of a head, to make it easier and more pleasant for the children to answer such questions. Usually at the beginning of the headache diary, a short introductory text explains the purpose of creating the headache diary.

The creation of the headache diary is usually preceded by a discussion with the child, the treating physician and, optionally, the child’s parents. There are various pediatric centers that specialize in the treatment of headaches in children. These centers offer templates on the Internet for a children’s headache diary to print out.
