Where can I get an organ donor card?

An organ donor card is available free of charge. In many medical practices and pharmacies, the cards are available for taking home. In 2012, the federal government passed the law regulating the decision-making process, which is intended to promote the willingness to donate.

Since then, the respective health insurance companies send out an organ donation card together with an information sheet from the age of 16 years. This happens every two years. Together with the identity papers, passport and registration offices also issue organ donor cards. The Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) makes the organ donor card available on its website as a digitized document that can be filled out by the donor themselves. An informal piece of paper can also be used as a possible form for approving or rejecting an organ or tissue donation.

Can I order or fill out the card online?

The Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) offers a special service on its website. The organ donor card is available as a PDF document to download and fill out yourself. It is an interactive version that can be labeled online.

An organ donor card for removal can be requested online in the BZgA’s ordering system together with an information flyer. The organ donor card is available in different languages (Turkish and English) as well as in a simplified version.
