Sinapis albae semen, white mustard.

Ingredients

Mustard oils and mustard oil glycosides.

Preparations

  • Mustard flour: powder from mustard seeds.

Effects

  • Stimulating blood circulation, irritant
  • Bacteriostatic

Indications

Mustard poultices for rheumatic complaints, colds. As a spice.

Dosage

External use: 4 tablespoons of powdered drug is mixed with warm water to a porridge-like consistency immediately before use. Leave on skin for up to a maximum of 15 minutes if tolerated. Duration of application up to 2 weeks.

Contraindications

Children under 6 years of age, renal disease.

Adverse effects

Skin and nerve damage with prolonged use
