Obligatory medical device diagnostics.
- Conventional radiographs of the knee joint in at least two planes; with radiographs held in special equipment, the extent of instability can be objectified – radiographs help to reliably exclude a concomitant bony injury
Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics and obligatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Knee joint puncture
- Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI; computer-assisted cross-sectional imaging method (using magnetic fields, i.e., without X-rays); particularly well suited for imaging soft tissue injuries) of the knee (knee MRI).
- Arthroscopy (arthroscopy) of the knee joint.
