What else can the wandering blush be confused with?
As already mentioned above, a variety of diseases can lead to reddening of the skin. These are often allergic reactions accompanied by itching. Psoriasis also leads to reddened plaques on the skin, which are very itchy.
However, these are additionally characterized by severe scaling and occur in different parts of the body. Another differential diagnosis is erysipelas. This is a sharply defined, tense reddening of the skin, which is often very painful.
The origin is a bacterial infection that spreads via the lymphatic vessels. In this case, the pathogens, mostly streptococci, often enter the body via small skin lesions. Erysipelas is often accompanied by the accompanying symptom of fever and should be treated with antibiotics.
