Hepatodoron

Composition and products

Hepatodoron Tablets, Weleda AG, 1 tablet of 200 mg, contain 40 mg dried and powdered wild strawberry leaves (Fragariae herba) and 40 mg grapevine leaves (Vitis viniferae folium). The preparation is based on the indications of Rudolf Steiner and does not include extraction. The composition is also presented in an outdated way as follows: Fragaria vesca folium 20% / Vitis vinifera folium 20%, aa. Lactose is included as an excipient.

Effects

According to the anthroposophical healing view, Hepatodoron stimulates the metabolic performance of the liver and is liver regenerating. Steiner is reported to have said, “In disturbed liver activity of all kinds, having a balancing effect on disturbances of liver function in general.” A detailed description can be found, for example, in Schramm (2009). From a rational-scientific point of view, we have no evidence to support the application.

Indications

According to anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature to stimulate liver and intestinal activity. It is said to be effective against mild liver dysfunction, such as rapid fatigability, loss of appetite, general moodiness, constipation, flatulence, and sleep disturbances.

Dosage

According to the package leaflet. Tablets are taken before meals and for a long time (during several weeks).

Contraindications
