Introduction

The danger of infection towards third parties is only given after complete healing of the blisters.

What are home remedies against mouth rot?

In general, it is advisable to see a doctor for this disease, so that there is no danger of confusion with far more serious diseases. The doctor can then prescribe medication to quickly reduce the fever. Who wants to do however completely without pharmacy-obligated means, different household remedies should test and test whether this the desired effect is obtained.

These are usually medicinal plants, as well as other herbal remedies with disinfectant and/or antibacterial effect, which support the oral mucosa in healing. Not every household remedy works for every affected person and for every degree of mouth rot. Therefore it must be tested individually, which helps best in the respective case.

Which home remedies can help?

Household remedies are available as with all other oral mucosa diseases like sand at the sea. Not all of them help equally well, however, and some work less and less after a certain degree of the disease. Mainly the disinfecting and anti-inflammatory effect is in the foreground here.

The vasoconstrictive effect eliminates the pain and also has a positive effect on the healing of the mucous membrane. For a chamomile tea rinse, either ready-made tea bags or loose chamomile flowers can be infused. After a infusion time of about 10-15 minutes, the tea must cool down before it can be used.

Several times a day one should rinse with smaller amounts of the tea or with ready-made camomile tincture and thus disinfect the mouth area. Bacteria, which spread very quickly on the inflammation without fighting the disease, are killed and healing is accelerated. In addition, the pain-relieving effect of this all-rounder is also beneficial.

Similar to camomile tea, sage tea can also be made using tea bags or fresh sage leaves. Here, the disinfecting effect of the essential oils is the main focus, which is of outstanding service in all oral and respiratory diseases. Due to the high content of thujones, sage is only recommended for the duration of acute inflammation.

Thujones are nerve toxins which cause epileptic seizures, among other things. The anti-inflammatory effect of the plant can also be used via sage extracts, which should be diluted with water before use. A very good product from the natural pharmacy, which has been used for several centuries, is salt.

About 1 teaspoon is added to 0.25l of warm water to create an effective solution. Regular gargling (about 5-6 times a day) for 1-2 minutes releases several effects: the salt has a disinfecting, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, decongesting and even pain-relieving effect. This combats mouth rot within a very short time and accelerates healing.

This explains the good effect in the case of oral thrush.

In addition to its local disinfecting effect, the bacteria are killed within a short time without any side effects. Propolis is a resinous mass produced by bees. Propolis is added to some types of honey due to its healing effect, which increases the effects of both substances mutually.

The honey strengthens the immune system and also improves the antibiotic effect of propolis. Propolis is found in many mouthwashes, ointments and lozenges, thus helping to accelerate the healing of eczema, aphtae or other inflammations of the skin and oral mucosa. Only allergies can be a problem with this substance, as contact allergies with reddening of the skin are frequently reported.

Tea tree oil is a worldwide known household remedy, which can also be used in the oral cavity. Besides its anti-inflammatory effect, it also disinfects wounds. Thus, tea tree oil protects against further spreading of inflammation.

Smaller areas may also be treated with the tincture at an early stage in order to alleviate bad processes. Tea tree oil can accelerate the healing process in cases of mouth rot. To do this, simply mix some Tea Tree Oil with lukewarm water and rinse with the resulting solution several times a day.

An intensive treatment is possible by applying the oil directly to the inflamed area with a cotton swab. Oil extraction comes from Indian Ayurveda and therefore has a long tradition. Due to its detoxifying effect, it has a long-term effect on the entire body.

Another very simple remedy that can be used especially on days when there is no possibility to get the other remedies. Just put an ice cube in your mouth and then let it melt in the oral cavity to achieve a pleasant cooling of the mucous membrane. Cold food and yoghurt also have a similar effect.

The pain caused by the disease is relieved in this way. However, warm, dry, acidic and spicy food should be avoided, as this will cause further irritation and associated inflammation to flare up again and make mouth rot worse.
