Pain after a blow
Pain may occur after a blow to the head or face. The pain may be localized in the area of the forehead or temple, for example. In case of temporal pain after a blow, it is necessary to consult a doctor. In order to exclude a craniocerebral trauma or bruising injuries, the affected person must be examined by a doctor as a matter of urgency.
Pain at the temple together with neck pain
Pain in the temple can occur together with neck pain. There can be several causes for this. The complaints can occur in the case of a migraine or tension headache.
A severe sinusitis can cause pain in the limbs as part of a flu-like infection. Pain at the temple and in the neck are possible. A dangerous infection of the meninges, known as meningitis, can also cause symptoms such as pain in the temples and neck. If meningitis is suspected, immediate action must be taken to avoid serious complications.
Multiple Sclerosis
The symptoms of multiple sclerosis, MS, can vary greatly among those affected. The disease often affects the optic nerve early on. If the nerve fibers of the optic nerve are damaged, headaches and pain at the temple can occur. Sensory disturbances such as temporal pain may be a sign of a relapse and require medical diagnosis.
Therapy
Pain in the temples can have many different causes. Mostly it is a concomitant symptom of a disease of the eye, ear, teeth or headache of various kinds. Only rarely do they occur without a clear cause.
Accordingly, the cause must be found before treatment. Depending on the cause, an appropriate therapy can then be carried out. Basically, an improvement of the temporal pain can be seen when the trigger or a disease of the head, such as headache, inflammation of the eye, ear or even jaw and tooth are treated primarily.
The pain then also disappears. In general, however, the patient can also treat the symptoms with various pain-relieving drugs such as ibuprofen or Aspirin®.In order to be permanently free of symptoms and to carry out a successful treatment, the cause should be clarified by a doctor and treated accordingly.
