Pleuritic Pain (Pleurodynia): Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may occur together with pleurodynia (pleural pain):

Leading symptom

  • Pleurodynia (pleural pain): chest pain that worsens with deep breathing movements and with talking, coughing, or sneezing; pain character: cutting.

Associated symptoms

  • Breath-dependent pain
  • Dyspnea, depending on the size of the pleural effusion
  • Irritative cough (without sputum)
  • Occasionally fever
