Why is the knowledge about calories for losing weight so important.
To put it in a nutshell, the body must have a negative energy balance to lose weight. The percentage of calories consumed must be lower than the percentage that is burned. A deficit of 1000 to 2000 kilocalories per day can lead to the loss of several kilos per week.
However, the body can adapt very well to this energetic deficiency and reduces the basal metabolic rate accordingly, which ultimately has the opposite effect. (see yo-yo effect). 0.5 kilograms of weight loss per week is a healthy value, guarantees long-term fat burning and ultimately leads safely to the hoped-for goal.
