Alcohol and Polymyalgia rheumatica – is it compatible?

In general, there is no scientific evidence that alcohol increases the symptoms of polymyalgia rheumatica. There are however concerning which report that after consumption of alcohol the pain increases. In addition it is to be considered that for the treatment of the illness a Cortison therapy is necessary.

Caution should be exercised with the combination of cortisone and alcohol. This does not mean that complete abstinence from alcohol is necessary, but consumption should be significantly restricted.
