Burning Mouth Syndrome: Symptoms, Complaints, Signs

The following symptoms and complaints may indicate burning mouth syndrome:

• Mouth mucosa
  • Permanent burning of the oral mucosa (oral mucosa), with clinically unremarkable mucosa (burning mouth syndrome).
• Tongue
  • Tongue burning (glossodynia): persistent burning usually on the anterior two-thirds of the tongue [here: idiopathic chronic pain disorder].
  • Itching, tingling or stabbing pain on the tongue.
• Xerostomia (dry mouth)
• Disturbances of the sense of taste
