Chinese Drug Therapy

Drug therapy is a fundamental part of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China. It is used in about 70-80% of cases.Both herbal and animal or mineral substances are used to produce the drugs. The largest part is made up of herbal substances. The different substances are mixed with each other to achieve the desired effect.A typical form of administration are the decoctions (decoctions). The Chinese herbs are classified according to their properties, i.e. temperature, taste, functional circle and meridian, as well as the direction of action.

An example – ginger

  • Temperature: neutral to slightly warm
  • Taste: spicy
  • Functional circle: lungs, whole center
  • Direction of action: surface dissolving

Ginger has a diaphoretic and warming effect. It soothes nausea, relieves cough irritation and has an expectorant effect.

The various herbs and active ingredients are combined and individually for each patient is a suitable recipe.
