Contraindications | Cordarex

Contraindications

Cordarex® is contraindicated in cases of too slow a heartbeat (sinus bradycardia), disturbances in the transmission of excitation (AV block) and potassium deficiency (hypokalemia).

Drug interactions

Drug interactions can occur with simultaneous administration of beta blockers, acetylsalicylic acid (ASS 100, Aspirin®), statins, phenytoin and phenprocoumon. The effect of these drugs can be enhanced by Cordarex® because the substance increases the activity of certain enzymes (CYP2C8/9, 2D6). The dose of Cordarex® must then be reduced.

Amiodarone itself is metabolised in the liver by an enzyme called CYP2A4. Certain drugs such as simvastatin or azole antifungals inhibit the enzyme, weakening the effect of amiodarone.
