Dextropropoxyphene is no longer on sale in many countries. Depronal retard, Distalgesic, and other drugs are no longer available. According to the French medicines agency AFSSAPS, the active ingredient is also being withdrawn from the market in the EU.
Structure and properties
Dextropropoxyphene hydrochloride (C22H30ClNO2, Mr = 375.9 g/mol) is a white crystalline powder that is very soluble in water. It has structural similarities to methadone.
Effects
Dextropropoxyphene (ATC N02AC04) is analgesic.
