Dysgrammatism in Children – Symptoms

A characteristic feature of dysgrammatism is grammatically distorted speech: the child makes mistakes in the formation of words (such as inflection), in sentence structure, and in the use of word endings and function words (articles, prepositions, conjunctions). It often forms one-word sentences and speaks in telegram style. Word repetitions are also frequent. Many children comment on the actual meaning of what is said with appropriate gestures and facial expressions.

In severe cases, dysgrammatism can be so pronounced that one does not understand what the child is saying at all.
