Forgotten to take in the second week
Basically it makes no difference whether you forgot to take the pill in the first or second week. As soon as you forget to take the pill on one day and do not remember to take it for the next 10 hours, you have to be careful during sexual intercourse due to the lack of contraception. The rest of the time you should use an additional contraceptive, for example a condom.
There are also doctors who assume that after 7 days of taking the pill, safe lovemaking is guaranteed even without a condom. However, if you want to be sure that you will not become pregnant after forgetting to take the pill, you should use condoms for the remaining days. After the bleeding and from the start of the new pack it is then safe to take the pill again without condoms, as the pill then fulfils its full protective function again.
Forgotten to take in the third week
Even if you have forgotten to take the pill in the third week, you should still use condoms as the pill is no longer safe. For example, if you forgot to take the last pill, you should not worry about taking the pill again. It is also okay to stop taking the pill one day too early.
However, it is important to start taking the new pack exactly one week later! This means that if you had taken the pill until Wednesday but forgot to take it and therefore only took it until Tuesday, you can start the next week with the new pack on Wednesday! Not like the weeks before on Thursday.
If you do not do this, you have forgotten the pill and have no protection because the pill can then no longer perform a contraceptive function. The reason for this is that forgetting the pill can cause ovulation. If you have intercourse the day before, the same day or a few days after, it is possible that the egg will be fertilized and implant itself in the uterus. Therefore it is important to always follow the exact daily schedule of the pill and to always use double contraception in case of inaccuracies!
