Laboratory parameters of the 1st order – obligatory laboratory tests.
- Urine status (from midstream urine) incl urine culture.
Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and the obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Small blood count
- Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein).
- Fasting glucose (fasting blood sugar)
- Renal parameters – creatinine, urea, cystatin C or creatinine clearance, if applicable.
- Pregnancy test (quantitative HCG).
- If necessary, urethral swab (urethral swab) – if urethritis (inflammation of the urethra) is suspected.
- Bacteria and fungi, possibly mycoplasma, ureaplasma urealyticum and Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae;if necessary, Chlamydia trachomatis DNA detection (Chlamydia trochmatis-PCR) or Neisseria gonorrhoeae DNA detection (Go-PCR, gonococcal PCR).
- PSA (prostate specific antigen) – if suspected:
- Prostate carcinoma (prostate cancer).
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – benign prostate enlargement.
