How long do the complaints last?

The duration of the treatment also depends on the cause of pain. For example, if a bone fracture is present, healing can take several weeks to months. Afterwards, follow-up treatment in the form of physiotherapy is often necessary until the hand can be fully re-inserted.

In the case of short-term pain due to incorrect or excessive strain on the hand, the symptoms can improve after just a few days if the stressful activity is no longer carried out. Minor procedures, such as splitting a ring band when a finger is moving fast, are usually also quickly overcome. However, the finger should not be fully loaded for two weeks. Gymnastics can also be helpful. If the pain persists even after a treatment, and generally longer than expected, another visit to the doctor is indicated.
