Interactions

A strengthening of the Domicum effect can be caused for example by:. The effect of Dormicum® can also be enhanced by taking sleeping pills or tranquilizers at the same time, and especially by drinking alcohol. The effect of Dormicum® may be reduced if the antidepressant St. John’s wort is taken at the same time as epilepsy medication (antiepileptic drugs such as cabamazepine or phenytoin) or certain tuberculosis or virus-inhibiting (antiviral) drugs.

  • Antifungals (e.g. ketoconazole, fluconazole)
  • Certain antibiotics (macrolide antibiotics: erythromycin/clarithromicin)
  • Antihypertensive drugs (calcium antagonists: verapamil/diltiazem)
  • Certain antidepressants
  • Fat-lowering agent (atorvastatin)
  • HIV Drugs

Dormicum® should not be used if you are intolerant or hypersensitive to midazolam (Dormicum®) or benzodiazepines in general, or if you have any pre-existing conditions such as narrow-angle glaucoma, i.e. a disturbance in the drainage of water from the eye, or a specific muscle disease (myastenia gravis). Furthermore, Dormicum® must not be used in cases of acute alcohol poisoning (alcohol intoxication) or poisoning with other substances that act on the central nervous system (antidepressants, neuroleptics).

Furthermore, newborns and premature babies should not receive Dormicum® until they are 4 months old. Dormicum® is a prescription drug in any dosage form.
