Interactions

Other medications taken may be influenced in their effect by Lorzaar® or may influence the effect of Lorzaar®. These include the following drugs: No interactions with food or beverages are known to date. Lorzaar® can be taken independently of food intake. Lorzaar® is best swallowed whole with a glass of water.

  • Medicines for high blood pressure
  • Medicines for depression (tricyclic antidepressants)
  • Medicines for psychiatric disorders (antipsychotics)
  • Drugs with muscle relaxant effect (Baclofen)
  • Drugs for cancer therapy (Amifostin)
  • Potassium-sparing drugs (e.g. diuretics such as amiloride, spironolactone, triamterene or heparin)
  • Medicines for inflammation and pain (non-steroidal antitheumatic drugs)
  • Lithium

Side effects

As with all medicines, Lorzaar® can also cause side effects, i.e. undesirable effects when taken. These include:

  • Severe allergic reactions with skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, mouth or throat and difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Dizziness, fatigue, drowsiness and weakness
  • Low blood pressure or drop in blood pressure when changing from lying/sitting to standing (orthostatic dysregulation)
  • Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
  • Too much potassium in the blood (hyperkalemia)
  • Changes in renal function with renal failure
  • Reduction of red blood cells (anemia) or platelets (thrombocytopenia)
  • Increase of urea, serum creatinine and serum potassium in the blood
  • Headaches, migraines, depression and sleeping disorders
  • Palpitations (palpitations)
  • Severe chest pain/heart tightness (angina pectoris) with shortness of breath (dyspnea)
  • Stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting
  • Hives/skin rash (urticaria)
  • Swelling of certain parts of the body (edema)
  • Cough and flu-like symptoms
  • Vascular Inflammation
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Powerlessness
  • Stroke
  • Inflammation of the liver (hepatitis) and increased liver enzymes
  • Muscle, joint and back pain and muscle pain with dark urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Increased light sensitivity of the skin (photosensitivity)
  • Impotence
  • Inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • Low blood sodium level (hyponatremia)
  • Tinnitus (noises in the ear)
  • Altered sense of taste (dysgeusia)
