Is this possible on an outpatient basis?
A gastroscopy for children is possible on an outpatient basis. If no further examinations are pending and it is not an emergency, it is even the rule that gastroscopy is performed on an outpatient basis. There is an exception if, for example, a colonoscopy is also to be performed.
In children, this is only performed under inpatient conditions. So if both a gastroscopy and a colonoscopy are necessary, it is not advisable to perform the gastroscopy as an outpatient procedure, but to have both examinations performed during a short inpatient stay.
