The following symptoms and complaints may indicate lymphocytic choriomeningitis (LCM virus infection):
First-stage symptoms
- Alopecia (hair loss)
- Exanthema (skin rash)
- Symptoms of a flu-like infection
- Liver dysfunction
- Leukopenia – reduction of white blood cells.
- Lymphangiopathy (lymphatic vessel disease).
- Meningitis (meningitis)
- Myopericarditis – inflammation of the muscle and outer layer of the heart.
- Orchitis (inflammation of the testicles)
- Parotitis (parotid gland inflammation)
- Pneumonia (pneumonia)
- Painful eye movements
- Thrombocytopenia – decrease in blood platelets.
Symptoms of the encephalitic/meningoencephalitic stage.
- Impaired consciousness
- Bladder/mast bowel disorders
- Sleepiness
