The following symptoms and complaints may indicate paresthesias (false sensations):
- Formication
- Heat/cold sensation
- Tingling sensation
- Pinpricks
- Furry feeling
- Numbness
Warning signs (red flags)
- Immediate investigation/therapy is required if symptoms appear suddenly
- If localization changes (often in combination with visual disturbances) → think of: Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Neurological complaints (e.g., motor deficits, paralysis, etc.).
- Any persistent and increasing symptomatology should be urgently diagnosed and treated properly
