Mushroom in the face
A skin fungus infection can manifest itself on all parts of the body, including the face. Through contact or smear infections, the fungal pathogens can be transmitted very quickly from person to person and accumulate and multiply in the facial area. A fungal infection of the face often occurs as part of an infection of the hairy skin of the body or in people with a severely weakened and damaged immune system.
The infection with the fungus causes highly itchy, reddish and scaly inflamed areas on the face. The spread of the pathogens is particularly dangerous in the facial area, as they can lead to infections that can spread to the entire body, the blood or even the brain, causing severe damage to vital organs. A long and extensive exposure to light can in many cases contribute to a worsening of symptoms. Skin diseases such as acne, psoriasis or neurodermatitis not only pose a risk for the development of a possible fungal infection, but can also delay healing. In addition to the symptoms and complaints mentioned, the considerable cosmetic blemish also plays a major role, which must always be taken into account during treatment.
Reactions to molds
Moulds do not usually cause skin fungal diseases, but they can cause allergic reactions of the skin and, in patients with a poor immune system, cause serious diseases such as pneumonia. Allergic reactions to moulds can manifest themselves in a reddening of the skin. It can also cause severe itching.
In people who are permanently exposed to mould fungi, inhaling the fungal spores can also cause allergic asthma. The skin’s reactions to mold can first be treated by rinsing with cool water. So also the fungus-spores are washed by the skin.
If itching and redness persist, mild cortisone ointments can also help to alleviate the symptoms. In general, one should try to have as little skin contact with molds as possible. If mold is a known problem in the home, one should try to remove the mold as soon as possible.
