Neurogenic Bladder: Test and Diagnosis

1st order laboratory parameters – obligatory laboratory tests.

  • Small blood count
  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
  • Urine status (rapid test for: nitrite, protein, hemoglobin, erythrocytes, leukocytes) incl. sediment, if necessary urine culture (pathogen detection and resistogram, that is, testing of suitable antibiotics for sensitivity / resistance) (midstream or better catheter urine).
  • Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, if necessary cystatin C or creatinine clearance.

Laboratory parameters 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and the obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Daily blood glucose profile
  • Vitamin B12
  • Folic acid
  • PHA test or FTA-abs test – if syphilis is suspected.
  • Tumor marker – when malignant (malignant) neoplasms are suspected.
