Prognosis: Ability to work
After one to two weeks, sedentary activities such as desk work and office work can be resumed. When moving around at the workplace, the consistent use of walking aids must be observed. Standing activities must first be avoided. A possible use at the workplace depends on the clinic of the injured extremity. Work that is associated with greater physical strain may only be resumed when full weight-bearing is possible and adequate physiotherapeutic therapy has taken place.
Prognosis: fitness for sports
After six weeks the careful, therapeutic training can be resumed. In this case it is important to make sure that the clinic of the joint makes the therapy possible. Swelling and pain should be reduced as much as possible as described above. With consistent and professionally performed reloading, the athletic performance can be expected to be restored after ten to twelve weeks to the same extent as it was before the injury. In the therapy of the frequently young injured, a careful and above all adapted procedure must be observed in order to avoid a deterioration of the injury with possible late damage.
