This is the active ingredient in Regaine Women
Regaine Women contains the active ingredient minoxidil and is available in the form of a two-percent solution. Minoxidil dilates the small blood vessels and improves the supply of blood and nutrients to the hair-forming cells (hair follicles). When used regularly, Regaine Women can activate the hair follicles, thus counteracting hair loss and leading to the growth of new hair.
When is Regaine for women used?
Regaine Women slows down the progression of hereditary hair loss in women, also known as androgenetic alopecia. While hair loss in men manifests itself in the form of receding hairlines and bald patches, this is extremely rare in women. Instead, the hair becomes thinner and thinner while the hairline remains the same.
Androgenetic alopecia is a slow and gradual process, so the earlier treatment with Regaine Women is started, the more successful it is. However, Regaine Women can also help with hair loss that has already been present for some time.
What side effects does Regaine for women have?
Like any medication, Regaine for women can also cause side effects.
Occasionally, itching (pruritus), skin desquamation, allergic contact dermatitis, skin inflammation (dermatitis) or fleeting skin rashes (rash) occur.
What you should bear in mind when using Regaine Women
As the reasons for hereditary hair loss lie in the genes, the cause cannot be eliminated. However, Regaine Women can slow down this process. To do this, it is important that Regaine Women is used regularly and permanently. The treatment can last three to four months until the first effects are visible. The treatment must also be continued thereafter in order to maintain the success of the therapy. If no progress is visible after eight months, the therapy should be discontinued.
Regaine Women is available as a pump spray. An applicator is included in each pack. The enclosed spray applicator is the best method of application for small areas of skin and enables precise application of the product. However, other applicators can also be used.
How should Regaine Women be used?
Regaine Women should:
- be applied twice daily (morning and evening)
- be applied to the dry scalp with a dose of 1 ml per solution
- Be used regularly and continuously
Regaine Women must not be used for
- a known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient minoxidil or any other component of Regaine for women
- Simultaneous use of other medications applied locally to the scalp
- sudden or irregular and therefore not hereditary hair loss
Interactions of Regaine for women with other medicines:
There is a possibility that the absorption of the active ingredient of Regaine Women may increase the drop in blood pressure when switching from lying to standing if patients are taking antihypertensive agents at the same time. Simultaneous use with other antihypertensive agents is therefore only recommended after consultation with the treating physician.
Regaine Women: Overdosage:
Use in higher doses than recommended, or on larger areas of the body, may possibly lead to increased absorption of the active ingredient minoxidil into the body. This can have an effect on the cardiovascular system, causing a drop in blood pressure, increased water retention in the tissue or an accelerated heartbeat. In the event of accidental oral ingestion or the occurrence of symptoms of an overdose, a doctor must be informed immediately.
Forgotten application of Regaine Women:
Regaine women during pregnancy and breastfeeding
Regaine products must not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding due to a lack of studies on tolerability. The active ingredients could both cross the placental barrier and enter the child via breast milk and cause unforeseeable damage.
