Skin Abscess, Boil and Carbuncle: Diagnostic Tests

Medical device diagnostics are usually not required.

Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and laboratory diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Sonography (ultrasound examination)
  • Computed tomography (CT; sectional imaging procedure (X-ray images taken from different directions with computer-based evaluation)) – if a lodge abscess is suspected.
  • Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI; computer-assisted cross-sectional imaging method (using magnetic fields, that is, without X-rays)) – if a lodge abscess is suspected.
