The Thymus: Protection and Medicine

In the treatment of certain cancers, for example breast cancer or colorectal carcinoma, preparations containing proteins from the thymus gland of calves have been used for some time. These thymus peptides are usually administered in parallel with radiotherapy or chemotherapy.

Studies have shown that this causes less damage to important organs such as the bone marrow or gastrointestinal tract.

How can I protect and support my thymus?

The thymus gland is an important part of our immune system: by eating a balanced diet and getting enough exercise, you strengthen your body’s defenses and thus indirectly strengthen the thymus.

If you have the feeling that your immune system needs a special “kick”, just do it like Tarzan: tap yourself lightly (!) on your breastbone with a fist for one minute. This is how you stimulate your thymus gland.
