Therapy
The treatment depends on the underlying disease. For example, thrombosis is usually treated by compression of the affected area, movement and blood-thinning therapy (anticoagulation). Blood-thinning therapy with anticoagulants must be continued for at least three months.
In cases of severe and long-distance thrombosis, surgical removal of the thrombus may be necessary. A slipped disc is mainly treated with painkillers. In addition, the focus is on movement therapy, i.e. the patient should go for a walk, for example.
The lifting of heavy loads should be avoided. Physiotherapy such as physiotherapy, heat applications and massages can also be used as treatment. An operation is performed in severe cases, when nerves are damaged by the herniated disc.
The symptoms of fibromyalgia can be alleviated by regular sports, relaxation exercises and physiotherapy. If hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism is the cause of the pain, medication can be taken to regulate the hormone balance. In the case of polymyalgia, cortisone is prescribed in tablet form, whereby the pain should improve immediately. Neurological diseases such as Restless Legs Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s Disease are treated with special drugs to provide symptom relief.
