2nd order laboratory parameters – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Small blood count [anemia/anemia?; MCV ↑ → indication of alcohol abuse/abuse, if any].
- Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein).
- Urine status (rapid test for: glucose).
- Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose)
- Ferritin (iron stores) – if iron deficiency anemia is suspected.
- Syphilis serology – if syphilis (lues; venereal disease) is suspected.
- Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) puncture for CSF diagnosis – if multiple sclerosis (MS) is suspected.
- Blood gas analysis (BGA)
- CO hemoglobin (synonyms: CO-Hb, carboxyhemoglobin, carbon monoxide hemoglobin) – due topossible carbon monoxide poisoning.
- Mercury (due topossible intoxication).
- Tetrachloromethane (due topossible intoxication).
