What remuneration does one receive if one takes over the care as a relative?
If you care for your family member or friend in need of care with care level 2 at home, you are entitled to a monthly care allowance of 316€. While in the old care level system, the amount of remuneration was influenced by the presence of dementia, now everyone with care level 2 receives the same amount of 316€. Compared to the old care level system with the same level of care, this is about 70 € higher.
If the care of the relative is also partly taken over by an outpatient care service, a combination of care allowance and care in kind is possible. In this case, however, the care allowance is no longer paid out in full. In addition, as a caring relative, nursing courses can be attended free of charge and advice on how to optimize care can be obtained. How do I make the application?

The application must only state that benefits from the nursing insurance are being applied for. You will then receive a form which must be filled out and signed by the person concerned or their authorized representative. In this form no exact information about the care situation must and should be given yet. Subsequently, an appointment is made with the nursing care insurance fund to assess the nursing care situation, during which the concrete nursing care situation is described.After a maximum of five weeks, the nursing care insurance fund should have classified the patient into a degree of nursing care, otherwise a claim to compensation payments from the nursing care insurance fund arises.
