Mandatory medical device diagnostics.
- Computed tomography of the skull (cranial CT, cranial CT or cCT) – if meningitis (meningitis) is suspected (as a screening test).
Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, physical examination and mandatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Magnetic resonance imaging of the skull (cranial MRI, cranial MRI or cMRI) – suspected herpes simplex virus encephalitis (HSVE); encephalitic syndrome HSVE.
- Encephalogram (EEG; recording of electrical activity of the brain) – in encephalitic syndrome.
