Obligatory medical device diagnostics.
- Abdominal ultrasonography or renal ultrasonography (ultrasound examination of the abdominal organs or kidneys, including the urinary tract).
Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the history, the physical examination and the obligatory laboratory parameters – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Transrectal prostate ultrasonography (ultrasound examination of the prostate through the intestine) – e.g., if benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH; benign prostatic enlargement) is suspected, etc.
- Urethrocystoscopy (urethral and bladder endoscopy) – possibly with biopsy (tissue sampling).
- Urogram (imaging of the kidneys after administration of a contrast agent with the help of X-rays).
- Uroflowmetry (urine flow measurement) – procedure for the objective detection of bladder emptying disorders.
