Acromioclavicular Joint Arthrosis (Osteoarthritis): Prevention

To prevent osteoarthritis, attention must be paid to reducing individual risk factors.

Behavioral risk factors

  • Physical activity
    • Overloading of the joints, e.g., due to competitive and high-performance sports in the field of power sports (e.g., bodybuilders) or long-lasting heavy physical loads, e.g., at work (construction workers, especially floor layers)
    • Lack of physical activity – since the cartilage gets its micronutrients from the synovial fluid, it is dependent on the joint being moved
